M. Jenea Sanchez in Intermedia artists from Douglas, AZ. Her work places the viewer in a liminal space where contemplation from multiple perspectives is encouraged. She explores the visual, psychological and environmental aspects of borders, landscapes and the image/role of women within dominant and displaced communities. Video, installation, performance and handmade cactus paper exemplify the various approaches used to engage in ideas that stem from Sanchez’s mutation of cultural ideologies into new avenues of exploration. Sanchez is currently an Intermedia MFA candidate at Arizona State University.
