Jane Lindsay

Jane Lindsay was born and raised in rural West Texas. She received BA in Communication from University of Texas Arlington in 1985, MA in Clinical Psychology from Regis University in Denver 1997. She is currently working onher MFA in Photography from Arizona State University. Jane investigates the idea of using photography as a vessel for understanding social interactions and human rights issues. Her new interested in photography is to document social issues and different stages of human development over time. She has exhibited her work across the United States and in Europe. The Last Resort When I moved to Arizona to attend the MFA program I was aware that I could be considered a “non-traditional “ student or just an old student. Yet I did not feel old, that is until we moved into a retirement trailer park. My husband found our trailer, which appeared to have everything we could want, swimming, golfing and air conditioning. I have come to realize that the majority of my life is experienced with people that are much older or much younger than I am. This work is my response to existing and living in space where most of the people are at the end of their life. I am interested in class, mortality, and human development. As time moves along I have begun to find a more intimate story to be told in the personal relationships I have made and my relationship with my husband, Dan. I didn’t realize until recently that Dan is the story of the last resort in many ways. His age and his health are related to the work in so many ways His story is one of several that relate to the idea of the “Last Resort”.
