Residents used to consider Good Sam a bad neighbor for the encroaching hospital expansion. Today, Coronado is oft cited as a “real” neighborhood because has suburban charm with urban amenities; services, transportation (lightrail & freeway access), and employment (a healthcare hub).

Description: Historically there have been numerous efforts to divert the waters of the Gila river for agricultural purposes. Ditches and other hydrological modifications made by the Hohokam were found in the area. In 1891, Wolfley, the former governor of Arizona, invested over $750,000 into the creation of a dam (a fortune at the time), which was wiped down by a flood.

Description: In 2010, the town of Gila Bend adopted the Solar Field Overlay Zone (SFOZ) ordinance to facilitate the establishment of solar projects in the region. This ordinance expedites the processing of solar projects getting approval within 2-3 months as opposed to the usual two years and more processing time.

Description: Water consumption is a major sustainability issue for energy production systems. The 2006 report to the Congress on the Interdependency of Energy and Water estimated that "a coal fired plant uses 110 to 300 gallons per megawatt hour; a nuclear plant uses between 500 and 1100 gallons/MWh; and a solar parabolic trough plant uses 760 -920 gallons/MWh".
